A cold plunge is the other half of the ritual. Done well, it disappears into the architecture - a sunken tile pool off the sauna, a cedar-clad tub on the deck, or an insulated stainless vessel tucked into the rock. Done poorly, it becomes a maintenance problem the first winter. We install cold plunges as part of a retreat build and, in some cases, as a standalone addition to a sauna a client already owns.

Water is supplied off the domestic line with a dedicated fill and a bottom drain to daylight or to a soak-away sized for the volume. Filtration is a cartridge and UV loop sized to the tub, with ozone as an option on longer-cycle installs. A dedicated chiller holds temperature into the low single digits and is housed in a ventilated mechanical bay away from the sauna heat. For four-season use, supply lines run inside the heated envelope, the tub sits on an insulated slab, and drain lines are graded so a controlled winter shutdown is a five-minute job - not a spring repair.
